How to become a believer
In order to become a believer all you have to do is believe. Believe what?
1. That Jesus Christ is the son of God ( Matthew 3 v 17,John 3 v 16)
2. That Jesus came to the earth as a baby and lived upon the earth as a man but never sinned ( Matthew 2 v 1, 2 Corinthians 5 v 20)
3. That Jesus gave his life to pay the penalty of sin so that whoever believe in him will live forever with God ( John 3 v 36)
4. That without Jesus we would all go to Hell which is separation from God forever ( John 3 v 36)
5. That when you believe and speak out this belief you become a new person. You may look the same but inside you are changed. You move from the kingdom of darkness were we are separated from God to the kingdom of light where we can know Him. ( 2 Corinthians 5 v 17,1 Peter 1 v 3, 1 Peter 2 v 9)
There are no conditions to this free gift. There are things that you can do to help
you to know God more and to grow in your personal relationship with him. These are
1.
By joining a church so that you can hear more about God and be a part of the body
of Christ in a practical way. God never designed us to exist in isolation.
2. By reading
the bible. The bible is a whole lot of books within a book and stating to read it
can seem quite daunting so don’t start at the beginning and read it like a novel.
Luke’s Gospel is a good place to start as this tells you about Jesus. There are also
lots of versions. The New International Version is a good one to start with but this
is your choice
3. You can speak to God and listen to him speak to you ( this is called
prayer). God speaks in a number of ways such as through the bible. Another one is
by inner promptings. It can be difficult to know whether you are hearing from God
or just your own thinking. One way to check this out is to know that God will never
contradict his written Word, the bible so you can use this as a sure blueprint for
life.
4. Be yourself. Speak to God honestly in the way that you would anyone else.
5. We have prepared some notes for new Christians. Drop us an e-
Welcome to the body of Christ. There’s no better place to be. Remember
you are unconditionally loved and God has a great plan for your life. If we don’t
get a chance to meet on the earth. See you in heaven
